A humidifier prevents damage to your wood floor .

Did you know that during the year, indoor humidity changes? Parquet floors are back-dried at the manufacturer to a moisture content of 7-9%. This wood moisture percentage is balanced with a normal humidity of %-65%.

In the winter, your heating is constantly on, drying out the air and lowering the humidity, this can make your wood floor suffer. Wood is a living material and responds to changes in temperature and humidity. The moisture in the parquet is not enough to compensate for the lack of moisture in the air during the winter months. It can even happen that the ambient air pulls the moisture out of the wood, which can cause cracks or shrinkage seams and gaps. In the presence of underfloor heating, these shrinkage seams occur even faster. To maintain the quality of your wood floor, a humidifier is essential. It will also significantly extend the life of your wood floor.

Why do cracks and seams appear in your parquet during the winter?

Unfortunately, air handlers are not offered until cracks appear in consumers’ homes. Therefore, we would like to remind you, to make consumers aware to purchase humidifiers in a timely manner. Don’t wait until winter to turn on your humidifier; it’s best to do this as early as fall.

At a relative humidity of 75% in summer and a temperature of 20 degrees Celsius, the wood moisture content will be 14.5%. In winter, when rooms are artificially heated, relative humidity drops to 45% when a constant room temperature of 20 degrees Celsius is maintained. Wood moisture content averages 8.4%.

Throughout the different seasons, additional measures must be taken to maintain the environmental climate. If additional room humidification is not provided, the wood will inevitably dry out.

A humidifier maintains humidity by evaporating water. For optimal climate control in the home, we recommend purchasing an evaporator, air scrubbers and heat-win systems. It is best to keep the humidity level at 55% so that your parquet will not dry out, cracks will not appear and air hygiene is also improved.

We recommend the following products:
